How Do You Define A Hero? Movie Review
To contact us Click HERE

While visiting my parents, I had the time to watch a movie that we had received for review...I thought it would be nice to watch with my mom, as it said " they messed with the wrong senior citizen" for their tag line... Well, she was at work, so I thought I would go ahead and watch it and then let her watch it later if she wanted too..I am so glad I watched before her... the f bomb was used about 7 million times, that was in the first half of the movie... I mean, I understand getting the point across, but wow... it was pretty foul and it was one that I know my mom would not enjoy, let alone watch...
Let me summarize it for you:This guy goes and fights in Vietnam. He was gone for like 7 years... between war and being a POW... When he returns, to his sweetheart, he learns that she has moved on in her life and he is then just wandering aimlessly. He is not having any luck in the civilian world, as he has no college education, nor any formal job training... it was hard to do any of that while fighting in a war, you know? So, he is riding the bus and these 2 punks are giving this older gentleman a hard time... Finally, he has enough and stands up, telling them to take his seat in the back and not cause any problems... of course, they were punks, so they tried being all tough (meanwhile ALL of this is being filmed by this chic on her camera phone...) so, he handles the business they start, basically giving them what they deserve... In the technological world we live in, it is IMMEDIATELY a hit all over You Tube... and that my friends is where he ends up getting the name, Bad Ass...
The movie then basically has us watching how the community that once had nothing to do with him (remember, Vietnam Veteran) now sees him as a "HERO" for what he did on the bus... I myself find that a bit ironic... not a hero for serving your country, but 40 years later, a hero for fighting on a bus... Anyways, the movie keeps going showing us how he lives... No, he doesn't seek out trouble, so to speak... but he does handle what needs to be done, including looking for the killers of a friend of his, since the police are "busy" looking, but you know they aren't... If the language wasn't so bad (including the neighbor KID that really needs to be reprimanded for his filthy mouth) I would probably have enjoyed it more... Now, don't go thinking I am a saint or anything, I just think that they might have gone a bit overboard in the language this time...
Here is the Official Synopsis:
Kicking criminal butts and taking the law into his own hands, Danny Trejo (Machete, "Sons of Anarchy") ignites the screen in the gritty, violent and enthralling film Bad Ass, arriving on Blu-ray and DVD June 5 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Inspired by the viral video of a vigilante citizen taking action into his own hands, Bad Ass also stars Ron Perlman ("Sons of Anarchy," Hellboy) and Charles S. Dutton (Alien 3).
Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It's not until 40 years later when an incident on a commuter bus, where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads, makes him a local hero and he's suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his best friend Klondike is murdered and the police aren't doing anything about it.
Directed by Craig Moss (The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It), Bad Ass is inspired by the Epic Beard Man video that captured two men's highly charged verbal and brutal physical altercation on a public bus in Oakland, California. Posted to YouTube, the video spread like wildfire and the heroic elder bearded man was anointed Epic Beard Man. The video has garnered more than five million views.

Mrs. Meyer's Cleans With a Minimal Amount
To contact us Click HERE
Apartment living has its ups and downs..
I could list tons of them for you, but I want to focus on one in particular right now..Laundry Room Space. You see, we have no storage closets, so for the most part, our laundry room is storage too... From wrapping paper to tools, they go in there.. So, when it comes time for necessities, smaller is better...I love buying toilet paper and things in bulk, as I know we will need them (and it's cheaper) but then, we run out of room!
That was why I was excited to try Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Detergent. This little bottle has 68 loads worth in it! That is a great deal for a small bottle. Not only is it small, so it takes up less room.. It is also great smelling... I love to wash my clothes and have a great scent on them when they come out of the wash. You know, I don't see if detergents bubble up or anything, since we have a plain old washer that you can not see in.. (Not to mention that I heard it doesn't even matter about the suds and in some cases, sudsy = not good.) So, when I wash my clothes and dry them... I like pulling them out of the dryer, smelling fresh and looking clean...
That is what I got when using Mrs. Meyer's. The clothes did not have a knock you down smell, but it was light and crisp. Letting you know they were washed, fresh and ready to go... No dirt and no residue!
That makes me happy, so we know.. When Mama is happy = everyone should be happy!
This is yet another product that I would recommend for kids going to college... It takes up very little room (We know dorm rooms don't have much space) and it is light, for lugging back and forth to the laundry mat!
Not to mention the smell! Great overall product and our clothes come out looking great!!!!

Good things really do come in small packages. 1 TABLESPOON = 1 LOAD

The Playdate Was Hard To Put Down
To contact us Click HERE

Have you ever picked up a book and had the hardest time putting it down? That was the case with me when I was reading The Playdate by Louise Millar.
I mean, you look at the cover of it and see " You leave your kid with a friend, everyone does it, until the day it goes wrong." Wow... that right there kinda sucks you in and you just have to keep reading it to see where it is going...
This book is about a girl, Callie and her best friend Suzy. More than best friends, they are also neighbors. As the book starts, you see that it takes place in London... With references to "the telly" and of "tea."
You quickly learn that Suzy is a mom of three young kids and that Callie is a mother to one little girl.... Their children go to school together and it is as though the other mothers in the school are not very friendly towards Callie, as well as her daughter Rae. We also learn that Rae has a heart condition that causes more concern for her to not get too excited....As the book continues, we read about their new neighbor Debs and she is full of issues as well. Seems as though the neighborhood is full of them. The Playdate rotates from the view of one of the three women throughout with short chapters full of excitement. I did notice that I was reading super fast to get to the next page to see what was ahead. At a few times, I caught myself wanting to skip over to see if I could figure it out, but I would not allow myself to ruin the book and do that, so I just read at every chance I had!
Literally, I started around lunch one day and read at every opportunity, went to sleep and woke up to read the last couple chapters before Broxton woke. I was very impressed with Louise Millar and if her writing stays this way, I have found a new author to start following.
I even told my mom that she needs to check it out... I know she would enjoy reading it, but I did go ahead and warn her, there is use of the ever so popular f-bomb in there... not as bad as others I have read, but I did want her to know... (You too.)
If you are one that is in a book club, I say check it out.. It is not a book " for moms," but rather a book that will make anyone turn the page as fast as they can!!Not to mention, they also have the "discussion questions" at the end to allow you to converse about it when you have finished.
To go ahead and grab your attention for the next book by Millar, they have also added the first 2 chapters of her next book. I have not read that yet, as I wanted to go ahead and get this book review posted for you...
Sound like something you would be interested in reading?

Caldrea Essential Collection: Smell Good and Decorate As Well
To contact us Click HERE

Caldrea has an Essential Collection that I would like to tell you about.
Found at select Target locations, you can purchase a kitchen fragrance diffuser, for less than $20. This would make a great addition to your home, or a fun and funky gift. They currently have four scents that range from Basil to Rosemary and all in between.
I like that the holder is a basic white... with different colored stems to add the burst of color to your room.
We were sent the Herbs of Provence (it has a blue stem on it.)I will tell you that I have not really noticed a smell. I have had sinus problems for the past couple months.. So, I do not know if it is just a very subtle scent, or what the deal is... I am guessing it is pretty subtle and just me, as Marc says he can smell it and he likes it... oh and of course, Broxton says "it smells good!" I hate that I am missing out on it wafting through the house, but then again, it might not be as strong as I would like... I still just do not know!I have it placed on our counter top and I personally like the artistic look of it. I would use it for that alone, so I guess that might be why it hasn't bothered me. I will also add that one day, I wasn't thinking and I grabbed the stem part... Remember I said ours was blue, well some of the blue left a mark on my fingers.. I don't know if that is normal or not, but then again, you aren't supposed to be picking it up by that anyways, just wanted to add that in for those that might be like me and not always thinking...

The Sisters Grimm: The Council Of Mirrors
To contact us Click HERE
I admit, I had never heard of The Sisters Grimm books...
So, I had to Wikipedia them to learn: The Sisters Grimm ,Fairy tale detectives is an interesting story based around the mysterious lives of two young orphans, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm. This story continues to tell an adventurous story of the two girls journey.
Now that I have learned that, I also learned that the book, Council of Mirrors, is the last book. What?! Guess I need to go to the library and read the series when I get a bit of time..Until then, here is the synopsis on the final book:

About the bookIn the final volume in the Sisters Grimm series, Sabrina, Daphne, and the rest of the Grimms and their friends must face off against the Master to decide the fate of Ferryport Landing—and the world. When Mirror fails to escape the barrier using Granny Relda’s body, he turns to his plan B: killing all the Grimms so that the magical barrier collapses. In the meantime, Sabrina has gathered the other magic mirrors as advisors on how to deal with their mortal enemy. They tell her to join forces with the Scarlet Hand against Mirror, in exchange for offering all the citizens of Ferryport Landing their freedom. This final chapter is the end of the road for several beloved characters, but the conclusion is sure to satisfy devoted fans of the series.
Have you ever heard of or read any of The Sisters Grimm books?

Get Dressed!!!!!!!!!
To contact us Click HERE

Get Dressed by Seymour Chwast is a great book for little ones! I thought it was adorable, before I even opened the book!
At first glance you see a nice jacket that you have to open to see inside the book..
It doesn't just turn like a page, opening the creativity to start from the very beginning! Then, this book strays away from what you expect right off the bat!
Instead of telling you to put your pants on and then your shoes, it lets the little ones be that... little and full of imagination! The very first scenario:A belt, shirt, feather, pot, lid, funnel and more...
What in the world?
You then turn the page and it has a kid dressed all in character (with the items listed on the previous page.)It simply says, Get dressed to read about dragons.
So simple, but that is what kids need to get their juices flowing..You do not have to buy a fancy costume or even go to all these expensive places.. You can enjoy the world through creative thinking...
Throughout this book, you have pictures of a "wardrobe."You then turn the page to see what adventure you will be heading on...
I love this and although it is totally different from what I thought it was going to be, it was just what the doctor ordered: FUN, CREATIVE, IMAGINATIVE, PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I think all of us might need a reminder from time to time on things like this!!!!

Teaching Opposites With HIPPOPPOSITES

As soon as I saw the book, Hippopposites, I was ready to check it out.
I sort of figured it was a book about opposites, but I was unsure of the whole "hippo" take on it..
Well, it seems as though Mr. Red Hippo is the star of the play here!I really enjoyed flipping the pages and seeing how they were going to incorporate him into each "lesson." First up, Large and Small. That is basic opposites and they had a large, all in your face red hippo on one page and a teeny tiny little red hippo on the opposite page. (Not to mention you could also go with tall versus short on that same page.)
It was pretty neat how they not only went words that we already know, light / dark, square / round.. But they went way outside the line and added others that you don't think about that often: positive / negative, visible / invisible.
I like that it is simple enough that little ones will love flipping the pages of the board book, but it is advanced enough that preschool kids and older will love learning about opposites as they read the book as well!
Great job on this one!!!!!!!

Show Your Creativity : @blankztoys #giveaway
To contact us Click HERE

When you start with a blank canvas, you can really let your creativity go crazy!Broxton loves arts and crafts and we have a great time playing and creating things...I saw a super cool toy online... It was called BLANKZ and it is basically a white stuffed animal... with washable markers... You get to draw/color/create the perfect creation for YOU ... and then you can wash it and start all over again!!!!Imagine the excitement when I gave him a blankz and told him that he could actually color on his stuffed animal! We had a blast! BLANKZ - 2012 CREATIVE PLAY OF THE YEAR AWARD - Child's Play Magazine
At first, he wasn't too sure about coloring on the toy (that is usually not allowed, so I had to explain that it was a special toy with special markers... and not to color on anything else and not to use anything to color on it besides the markers I gave him.) At that point, I drew a heart on his bear and then told him he could draw whatever he wanted...
Oh, I might need to mention that his big brothers were in town..So, they of course had to add to the art work! Yes, although this is a toy... there really is no age limit!I had Broxton and the boys all coloring and drawing... So, ages 3-16...Yes, I joined in as well, but come on.. How could I not?!
Once we were done creating, we had to let it dry... Well, that was what I said, I wasn't sure and I sure enough wasn't about to take any chances! A bit later, they were all ready to wash it and start over again.. I had already finished laundry, so I wasn't about to just throw it in the wash alone...So, I just ran it under the faucet for a bit... and then he sat out to dry...Worked just fine for us, and allowed for faster turn around time!
We had a blast creating different looks... and I know you will too!
The best part is that one of you will have the chance to experience the fun that we did!!!!Blankz is giving one animal to a lucky winner!!!!

That'snot to say it's not a fun and worthwhile read, just that you can't put it down! I can definitely see this series made into a TV series,it's that tight of a story1
Castle gives us another tightly wound thriller of a police procedural, that gives us more info on all the main characters, and expounds on their circle of friends, and weaves a circle of deceit and mirrors, that will keep you guessing! put this one on your Summer reading list!

Tweet Pin ItYou know when you have a baby, you look forward to the day when you don't have to buy diapers and wipes anymore. Then your baby gets toliet trained and you find out the harsh truth: the diapers may be gone, but you're gonna use MORE wipes than ever with a preschooler in the house!
So when I was contacted about reviewing the new Pampers Soft Care Wipes, i was overjoyed!
Pampers Soft Care Wipes are now combining fashion with function and have introduced a new packaging look that's super fun, colorful and easily portable.
They are the same great wipes, that parents have long used for diaper-changes and cleaning off their little one's hands and feet, with a new, hip design. They are still hypoallergenic and can help maintain the natural, healthy condition of little one's skin (with lotion and vitamin E).
The baby fresh scent is clean and smells of light baby powder. And the raised cleansing buds really catch anything your baby or preschooler can throw at them!
The Unscented version is perfect for kids with perfume reactions.
The line also includes The Sensitive Care Thick wipes are hypoallergenic and have PureCare lotion on them, sp they can also help to condition the skin. Made with pure water, the wipes are clinically proven to be mild. Their thicker size, means they are even better at getting messes picked up and are especially good for toddlers and preschoolers.
All of the wipes come in 72 count tubs. The refills also contain 72 count, except for the Thick wipes, which have 60 wipes.
For the review, we tried all three versions (so I could tell you about all of them!). The one thing I really liked is that the wipes do NOT try out your skin. When you're wiping down a toddler/preschooler from say finger painting, playing with playdough or helping to make cupcakes, you're gonna cover alot of skin. It's great to NOT have to go back and put lotion on your child. With the cheap brands, you may find yourself having to do that, after your child complains of dry, itching skin. With the Pampers Soft Care wipes,I knew we could literally wipe and go! No mess, no fuss!
The thicker wipes were very cost effective, as they can cover more with only 1 wipe. they work really well for after-crafting session cleanups! We use at least 3-5 wipes a day- we've gotten to leaving a tub of them on the bathtub, so Kiddo can go grab them when she needs to wipe her feet off from sand (a daily occurrence after school), clean off dirt from playing outside, and from this heat, just to wipe off prespiration and cool down after being outside and playing!
i still carry a to-go pack of the wipes in my truck (and a small bag in my purse) - you just never know when you're gonna need them! So it's great to have a pack in a gorgeous design, that Kiddo says is more 'grown up', that you don't mind anyone seeing! in fact, Kiddo's Kindergarten supply list contains 2 tubs of wipes, so you know even her school knows they will be needed on a daily basis!
So no matter how old you child is, there is always a need or use for these wipes. keep them in the bathroom, in the play area, in your craft area, and even the garage! So pick up Pampers Soft Care and get some that are great for your skin!
I am very happy to announce that super great giveaway opportunity:one lucky BTHM reader will win a 2-month supply of Pampers wipes! That's 8 packs! WOO HOO!
