Welcome to our stop on the You Don't Know Me Book Tour!

Synopsis: Sometimes the secrets we keep to protect ourselves can be our undoing.
To all who know her, Annalise Decker is a model wife and mother. She's a permanent member of the PTA, never misses a sporting event, and is constantly campaigning for her husband's mayoral race.
No one knows that Annalise was once Deidre O'Reilly, a troubled young woman whose testimony put a dangerous criminal behind bars. Relocated through the Witness Security Program to the quaint harbor town of Deep Haven, Deidre received a new identity and a fresh start, which began when she fell in love with local real estate agent Nathan Decker.
Twenty years later, Annalise couldn't be more unprepared for her past to catch up with her. When Agent Frank Harrison arrives with news that the man she testified against is out on parole and out for revenge, Annalise is forced to face the consequences of her secrets. Will she run again, or will she finally find the courage to trust those she loves most with both her past and her future?

Review: Welcome to another, I only meant to read one chapter, wait I'm finished reading the whole book? WOW reviews! LOL. Seriously, thought I'd read 3-5 chapters and could NOT put it down! The author drops you into the characters lives and you do not want to leave until you reach the end. The book takes place over a week and it races to the finish with every family drama you can think of! The characters are realistic, honest and people you want in your life (ok, maybe not the bad guys, but you know what I mean). While the book may scream Lifetime movie, I don't think a movie can capture the nuances of the choices the characters make in the book. Their back stories and love for their "families" influences their actions. Faith and hope added into the mix make it even better!
This is actually book 6 in the author's Deep Haven series. You don't need to have read the previous novels, as each of them focuses on different people in town-the new fire chief, emt, coffee shop owner, wife and ??? We highly recommend this entire series!

Out kids get a week off for our county fair.Do your kids?
The fair only lasts 4 days, so you know you;re gonna hear those immoortal words.....

Synopsis: There is NOTHING boring about being a kid, but one little girl is going to have to prove it in this anything-but-boring picture book from comedian Michael Ian Black. Just when a little girl thinks she couldn't possibly be more bored, she stumbles upon a potato who turns the tables on her by declaring that children are boring. But this girl isn't going to let a vegetable tell her what's what, so she sets out to show the unimpressed potato all the amazing things kids can do.
Too bad the potato is anything but interested. This tongue-in-cheek twist on a familiar topic is sure to entertain anyone who's ever been bored or had to hear about someone else being bored, and is filled with comedian Michael Ian Black's trademark dry wit, accompanied by charismatic illustrations from newcomer Debbie Ridpath Ohi.
Review: This book is hilarious, and any parent will easily recognize their child (children) in the tale. Kids think there is NOTHING to do, but they are only limited by their imagination! This is an excellent book to get your kids to thinking about what they COULD be doing instead of sitting around being bored, and potatoes may take on new meaning to both you and your child! We highly recommend it for vacation time, because you KNOW you are gonna hear those thee little words, "I'm BORED". Time to bring out this book, and give them other ideas! You could even make it a cooking lesson, in what can a "potato" do/turn itself into! We highly recommend it!
About the Author: Michael Ian Black is a writer, comedian, and actor who has created and starred in many television series, including Michael and Michael Have Issues, Stella, and The State. Michael regularly tours the country as a stand-up comedian and is the bestselling author of the book MyCustom Van (and 50 Other Mind-Blowing Essays That Will Blow Your Mind All Over Your Face) and the children’s books Chicken Cheeks, The Purple Kangaroo, A Pig Parade Is a Terrible Idea, and I’m Bored. Michael lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children.

Product Review/Giveaway: See's Old Fashioned Candies

Ya'll know October is my favorite month,
what with Fall, my Birthday, and
HALLOWEEN,
but it really rocked this year, when a HUGE box arrived bearing the
See's Candies logo on it!

Our family has been eating See's Candies for as long as I and my Mom can remember! I think Grandma found out that Mary See was from Canada like her, and that was that: we were a See's family! See's Old Fashioned Candies shops opened in 1921 in West Los Angeles, and started branching out almost immediately, with over 30 shops by 1936! That's pretty amazing as they survived the Depression and flourished. Which of course, just goes to show you that no matter how bad the times are, people want quality chocolates and caramels! Today the candy is sold in over 200 local and mall stores (in their classic black and white scheme), in the Western U.S., and halleluajah, online! I have very very fond memories of going into the stores with my Grandmother and Mother! You always had to stop right inside and inhale. No matter what your mood, the smell could bring a smile to your face and all was well with the world. Just call it the original aromatherapy!
For our family, seeing their white box and classic logo (which hasn't changed) always has brought smiles to our faces! They have the highest quality of dark and milk chocolates in a commercial candy company, that are still reasonably priced!
We received a variety pack of products that we all adore! The Nut and Chews box pictured above is the one pound box, and I think it was gone in 3 days! That is just HOW good and FRESH the candy is! The caramels literally melt like butter in your mouth, the marshmallows and nougats taste like they were just made and the peanuts/almonds/walnuts just got shelled! I love that you can select milk OR dark chocolate, if you prefer. We like the mix though, so everybody is happy!

Now my Grandfather, he was SERIOUSLY addicted to their Peanut Brittle! Oh yeah, that bag on the left is nothing but buttery peanutty goodness! It may seam like a lot, at 2 pounds, but trust me, a week, it will be gone! It is SO fresh and the taste is just downright addicting! Just look at the close up above and you'll see be wanting a piece too! Trust me when I say no other peanut brittle taste like See's. They have a proprietary blend that can not be touched, hands down! Every time I eat it, I think of my Grandfather and can't help to smile. Isn't that what candy is supposed to do? AND they have the cutest Happy Halloween cover box this year!
See's understands the smile factor and has some adorable hostess gift items for Fall gatherings, like Halloween and Thanksgiving! Check out this adorable Fall Harvest Box!
Isn't it too cute? It has Molasses Chips *like toffee chips-very addicting), solid Milk Chocolate Balls, Scotchmallow=a chocolate covered marshmallow, a Dark Chocolate Chip Truffle, and a Milk Chocolate Butter and Butterscotch Square. It is the perfect hostess gift, as it has something for all tastes! AND the box can be reused for storing of Fall items, or placed on the coffee table with more candy inside it!! It's like a piece of heaven!
But there is one childhood memory that I am thrilled I can give Kiddo- See's Lollipops!

Oh yeah-when I was little these were THE thing! A caramel lollipop, also available in chocolate caramel?
Oh yeah, give me one of these sweet things and I was good for the rest of the week! I remember getting them at the holidays, encased in a little paper See's delivery truck- seeing that truck you knew you had been REALLY good! (I don't know if they still make those, I hope they do!).
Kiddo wasn't too sure about them at first, but then she was like "ooooh" when she realized the Butterscotch caramel had to melt it's way off the stick into your heart! I love that they now have new flavors like Cafe Latte(for Mom!), Vanilla and even Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Orange for the holidays!
They are a family tradition that I am glad I got the opportunity to pass onto Kiddo!
See's Candies has something for everyone! Check out the See's Website and you'll see for yourself! Then order something, and your taste buds will thank you, just remember to inhale the smell of the chocolate when you open the box- so you can see what a piece of heaven smells like!
Want to try some of these excellent candies for yourself and your family?
How about a $25 gift card to See's?Woo Hoo- one of you is gonna have your owncandy delight session!

History Corner/ Book Review: Sex, Politics, Religion, How Delusional Thinking Is Destroying America By Steve Siebold.
To contact us Click HERE
Tweet Pin ItDad is the political animal of the house, so he took on this book when it came in!

Synopsis: From the author who shocked the world with his tough love book on obesity and NBC's Today show called "Direct," comes a new book just in time for the race to The White House which is already turning heads. Steve Siebold, one of the foremost critical thinking experts in the world today, announces the release of his new book Sex, Politics and Religion: How Delusional Thinking is Destroying America.
"Most people are confused when it comes to the hot-button issues because they've bought into the persuasion and misinterpretation of political and religious leaders," says Siebold. "If you really want to understand these issues, it's about looking at them through logic-based thinking devoid of emotion."
For example:
Delusional thinking says the United States government should continue spending billions every year trying to stop American's from getting high. Critical thinking says the drug war has lasted twice as long as prohibition and has failed on every level. How long will we keep repeating the same strategy and expecting a different result?
Delusional thinking says let the Federal Reserve keep printing money to fund wars, create bailouts and spend money like a drunken sailor with absolutely no obligation to pay it back and continuing to increase our national debt. Critical thinking says it's time for Americans to educate themselves, stand up and demand massive reform or complete abolishment of the Federal Reserve.
Delusional thinking says passing Obamacare was about protecting the 32 million uninsured Americans. Critical thinking questions why the government would saddle 300 million people with a mountain of debt, higher taxes and a lower quality of care, if all you needed was to find a way to cover 10% of the population?
Delusional thinking says ending faculty-led school prayer is equivalent to slapping God in the face and the moral downward spiral of America. Critical thinking says America is a melting pot with room for all religions and belief systems, but not under one roof. The idea of a generic school prayer pleasing them all is ridiculous.
"When it comes to the most important issues of our time under sex, politics and religion, don't just accept what you're told," says Siebold. "Educate yourself enough to push back and punch holes into outdated rituals, dogma and behaviors."
Review: This is one of the most interesting books I have read (note: after 2 chapters he almost threw in the heat, but he kept reading and waa-la he loved it!). Mr. Siebold clearly spent many hours in research for this book. It is well written and thought provoking. I cannot agree with some of his thoughts but others I embrace. I at time would come to the conclusion that he was a far left person, and at other times a Libertarian, not wanting government intruding on our lives.
He by his own admission does not believe in a Supreme Being. He seems to believe if you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. His thoughts on the Right Wing Religious extremists seem to come from his unbelief of God. He states that sex should be between two consenting adults no matter if they are married or not. God gave us this pleasure but only for the married.
He states this country is in trouble because of the $16 trillion deficit and blames it on the government for over spending on just about everything. I quote his statement of the Affordable Health Care Act, “Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass this bill, so you can find out what’s in it,” a statement so irresponsible you would expect of hear it in a skit on Saturday Night Live”.Mr. Siebold conveyed many such thoughts throughout this book. He spoke of Gun Control, Unions, Social Security and many more highly toxic issues.
I would recommend this book to any and all for their reading pleasure. I am sure most readers would feel the same as I did. Some ideas you will agree with and some you won’t agree with. However Mr. Siebold will get you to think on your own and hope that you will choose for yourself and not rely on someone or some entity to make you decisions. Good Reading.
About the Author: Steve Siebold is a former professional athlete and national coach. He's spent the past 27 years studying the thought processes, habits and philosophies of world class performers. Today he helps Fortune 500 companies increase sales through mental toughness training. His clients include Johnson & Johnson, Toyota, and Procter & Gamble. He's written five books on mental toughness, three of which have become best sellers with over 200,000 copies in print. Steve has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News, FOX Television, The BBC in Europe, NBC Australia and dozens of others. As a professional speaker, Steve ranks among the top 1% of income earners worldwide. In 2011, the National Speakers Association named him chairman of the Million Dollar Speakers Group, a group of NSA members who earn over one million dollars per year in speaking related income.

For our family, seeing their white box and classic logo (which hasn't changed) always has brought smiles to our faces! They have the highest quality of dark and milk chocolates in a commercial candy company, that are still reasonably priced!
