Recently Kiddo turned to me and said " MOOOMMMMMA you need to download more apps on your phone, I need variety here". Now when your 5 yr old uses app and variety in the same sentence you are a)glad she is learning new words and b)worried she's getting TOO much technology! But she finished her Clifford game and is almost done with the reading app, so I could see her point, as I only had 4 apps on the phone for her.

Luckily I was contacted the next day by Emily over at Three Girls Media and Marketing about a Mom-designed app she thought we might be interested in reviewing. AHA, a solution at hand!

iLuvDrawing is a series of apps that are perfect for kids, that want tolearn how to draw. Made for iPad and iPhone (sorry no Android yet), they arereplacing “How to Draw” books and teaching children how to use simple shapes todraw animals, people, monsters and dinosaurs from scratch.

They were developed by a mother, whose own daughter wanted an app that would teach her how to draw. The iLuv Drawing apps specialize in education for, andretention by, children. They provide step-by-step programs with a user friendlyand kid capable interface, as well as a child soothing voice for instructions. With these apps, children can learn to draw various people and playful monstersright on their touch screen in a few easy and memorable steps.
How easy? Well I opened it, showed Kiddo where to start, and she politely took the phone from me and said, "Mom, I KNOW how to do this", even though she had never used any of their apps before. Yup they are just THAT intuitive (though I really do think modern kids are born with a technology chip, they seem to know how to use any technology device with NO thought to it)....
This was her first drawing, a Pterodactyl:
Pterodactyl drawingShe really was playing around with it, and adding stickers, and just having FUN with it.

As you can see you can color the background, add 3 different scenic backgrounds, and then oh the fun- add STICKERS like flowers, hats and flames to your drawing!
This is the one she produced for the post, with more stickers and her carefully made background scene (them be hills, not trees!)- in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I now show you a PINK Parasaurolophus:

When you get done, you can save the drawing on the app, in a 'sketch book', email it or print it!
Here's my attempt at a Dimetrodon:

The iLuvDrawing apps promote artistic and creative skills, in addition to right brainthinking, that will benefit the child in future learning environments. Byteaching kids how to draw animals, monsters and dinosaurs on their parent’s iPad or iPhone, the apps lay the basic building blocks of adrawing, and reinforce learning how to follow simple directions. iLuv also teaches fine motorskills for younger audiences.
With as much fun as Kiddo was having with the app, I went and searched for their  other apps, and ended downloading IluvDraing Santa, which Kiddo thoroughly loves because it has CHRISTMAS music, and now has 9 different holiday items to draw!

Kiddo has used these apps just about daily and her drawing skills are getting pretty good, not to mention the dinosaur names she knows, and I can't half pronounce! Funny! They also are updated on a frequent basis which really delights her! I am sold on these apps and you will be too! We highly recommend them!

I only wish they were available on Android- hopefully they will be soon, so I can get my phone back and let Kiddo use the Nexus tablet!
