LA Pines on Robert Rd in Slidell, LA (under the aforementioned water tower!) has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants for a great breakfast or lunch (we never seem to order anything else!)
Check out the episode featuring LA Pines:
One of our favorite meals is there Country Skillet Breakfast, which features shredded hashbrowns with bell peppers & onions, smothered in Southern milk gravy, covered in cheddar cheese, and topped with 2 eggs cooked the way you wish. (hungry yet? LOL)

The picture? That is HALF of the plate! We get it with scrambled eggs. Seriously Kiddo and I split an order, with a biscuit, and we both leave FULL!
Now I know some of ya'll may not know what I mean by Southern milk gravy- so here's a recipe:
Southern Milk Gravy:
1/4 cp bacon drippings (if you don't start with this, it won't taste right!)
1/4 cp all-purpose flour
2 cps milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Place bacon drippings in a medium frying pan, and start to heat over medium-high heat, quickly add the flour, stir it constantly while browning it. When all is browned, Add milk and cook until thick. Season with salt and pepper to taste!
Think you can make it for your family?
Trust me, they will love it, and the food from LA Pines has the Guy Stamp of Approval!

So the next time you're on the Northshore- head over to the water tower- you won't regret it!
